First Winter Snow Storm | Living In A Van| Vanlife Europe

In this van life travel vlog, we get stuck in a snowstorm in Austria whilst living in the van with @Jits Into The Sunset !Winter vanlife so far has been quite easy but this week we see the problems with van life when in sub-zero temperatures. We start the travel vlog with some of the top things to do in Austria. We visit the Dachstein Skywalk, Hallein Salt Mine and go sledding for the first time in Ramsau am Dachstein. Then the weather dropped to -18 and a blizzard came in leaving us snowed in until a snow plow came to the rescue!

⭐ About Travel Beans:
Welcome to the official Travel Beans YouTube channel! On this channel, you’ll find a variety of travel and vlog content, in which you’ll see us in places like Thailand, Japan, USA, Slovenia, and more.

In 2017 we left home with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a sustainable travel lifestyle happen! We are now living our dream as digital nomads and want to inspire you to create your own story, whatever it may be!

After 5 years of aimless, yet enjoyable, backpacking around the world we found ourselves in New York City battling with depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head-on. After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle.

Our time spent battling depression has influenced our outlook on life dramatically! We are now traveling the world in search of what makes us happy. In our vlogs, we talk openly and honestly about our travel experiences, the digital nomad life and depression. We hope our videos can help to inspire you to create a life that makes you happy!

  • Love watching you guys, we live in the UK and are in our mid 60's and when we were younger that was just a light snowfall, we've walked to school in deeper and scraped ice off the inside of the windows in the house 😂😂😂

  • Thanks for always bringing holidays and adventures to my living room!

Although it has been for as long as I can remember, I just wanted to say the production quality of your videos is great. TV-worthy for sure.

  • I’m with Al…..10 minutes of snow is probably enough. Looks picture perfect, then get out😳

  • do you change the engine coolant to a more necessary one as most European antifreezes only go down to -16 ?

  • -46c where I live in northern Canada, last week, and a lot of snow. Like a smart Canadian 🇨🇦 , we park our camper in the garage over winter!

  • I was shivering watching this video…from the comfort of my couch at home! It just looks so cold. Brrr!!! ❄ As for collaboration, it would be great to see you meet up with your fellow brit Paddy Doyle from the Budgeteers. 👍

  • Good tip for you… wipe door seals in wd40.. it stops them freezing to the door so should open easier… but said that it is -18… so envious of you guys as want snow here in east UK to take my kids out sledging…lol stay safe UK 🇬🇧
just joined jits as they also seam a great coue to follow

  • What a beautiful video ! Thanks for sharing my dear friend, stay connected, looking forward to more updates 💛

  • What happen to global warming 😂😂😂

  • One of best videos even though my tummy drops 🤭 just looking down at depth below on video. Stairway and snow tunnel was fantastic. Had no idea this existed. Here in Canada it’s been -15 to -30 most of January. Yes those are flurries. In blizzard visibility is practically nil. Salt mine awesome. Your laughter sledding made me LOL and replay. Love the Jitts. Priceless scenery ❤️🇨🇦 plummeting with baby 😂

  • It’s child’s play 🙂 🇨🇦

  • Living in Canada our winters are similar to Austria as we get winter storms certain areas such the Northern parts of Canada snow and lots of it!

  • Amazing both so beautiful 😏🍻

  • Where are you going from there? If you're sticking around Bavaria you should drop in to say Hi.

  • Loved these adventures! We lived in Michigan for 7 years so well versed with winter weather and love it. Also, grew up in Seattle, so used to love skiing in nearby mountains. Love it when you travel with the Jits as well, they are sooooo lovely! Happy new year to you both; hugs!

  • Are you going to watch the Hahnenkamm races in Kitzbühel? It is going on from 17. – 23. January. They have been held annually for 91 years now (since 1931). I was there once, many years ago.

  • Childes Play! 28" fell in Three hours 01/01/2000 Chicago

  • This video made us smile! Watching you all sledding was for sure the highlight of this video. Glad y’all are having so much fun! Thanks for sharing it with us

  • Morning coffee shot is postcard-worthy and then some.

  • Umm not much snow in Australia ATM. between 40 and 29 Celsius for the capital cities today….but believe it or not we get as much snow as Switzerland on our Alps in our winter months. While you guys swelter from June to August, we in the South East of Australia are skiing. Now tell me you dont want to bring your van down here. (We drive on the left hand side as well).

  • -22 Here in Canada tonight. That’’s shorts weather for us Canucks. 😁🇨🇦🍺

  • It sure is fun watching you two enjoy the snow.
I don't miss it at all.

  • R C

    👍😎 watching you from Fl☀️rida

  • Love this video! Love the snow and love you all! Lol you have all been so great to see on this adventure! I would love to see you calab with sooooo many other tubers it isn't even funny! Some you already have and would love to see again like winging it with Ash, The endless adventure, Flying the nest, Kara and Nate, Deana and Phil, and Kinging It would be hilarious! Would love to see jitz on again of course! There are so many to mention! These of course are some of my top faves!

  • I could definitely have chosen not to go on it! way too high for me NOPE! Glad you guys went there and filmed it so I dont have to hahahah THANKS BEANZ!

  • the snow? the amount of snow the ice on windows hahaha that is all normal. If now it was up to your windows then and only then i would say you were in a blizzard. South Dakota we get normally about 14 feet a year yes a year and temps down below-45C. Yes it gets cold and yes we get snow. Last week here it was -29C out. high -20C. Your blizzard is just a few flakes for us and Alex said lucky he got snow tires hahaha we would still be running on summer tires hahaha. But anyway stay warm be careful and have fun that is what life is about. Also first chance you get if you can get your pipes insulated so your water does not freeze up again.

  • It’s fun to see people enjoying the snow after 40+ years of living in Canada 🇨🇦 I’m over the snow and cold. We’ve had snow flurries off and on since December so no big dumps of snow but it will be super cold tonight and freezing tomorrow so not fun. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

  • This IS child's play to us here in Orillia, Ontario, Canada, in the heart of the snow belt….to us, a real winter storm would be 60 or 90 centimetres in one go! 🙂

  • Ohhhhhhhhh. Did the poor Beans get four inches of fluffy powder snow? Oh no!!!!!!!! "Snowed in" my patootie! LOL

  • Heat your key before you insert it and it will melt the lock and allow you to open it. Alaska trick.

  • 😉 You guys look quite happy, Tonight in Québec it will be minus 38 degrees and it has been snowing everyday for the last week fun fun fun…………………

  • Liked and shared your pretty amazing video.

  • In Cornwall, UK. What is snow? Meet up with Jits again somewhere, you four are all beutiful people. Thank You for sharing your adventures.

  • Love snow. (But don't love driving on it.) We haven't had any here in my part of the US this year yet. We don't get a ton where I live, but it would be very unusual if we ended up not getting any. I love sledding but haven't done it in so long. That hill is much bigger than I've been sledding on, and the sleds I've used have mostly been the cheap plastic kind, so less cool looking but still fun.

  • I don't know snow. Native Floridian USA

  • Loved your video and how enthusiastic you were. I'm from Denver, Colorado, USA (mile high city) and snow is snow. Just be careful of any black ice on the roads.

  • The photographer in me love snow but I’m a pansy when it comes to driving in it. January came with snow where I live but only for a week. I have a genuine fear of heights but loved the gondola ride and suspension bridge. Than you for a fun video.

  • As a Canadian it is mind blowing to me that you had never been sledding! Although here we generally call it tobogganing. Also, who knew you could rent sleds? You aced it by the way. As to the amount of snow or is it a blizzard umm, NOT EVEN CLOSE! We got 30cm in 6 hours today, my driveway has been plowed twice already and it is supposed to drop to -24 tonight. I come down on the hate snow side of the fence.

  • Definitely child's play. From northern Ontario where it is minus 30 tonight this is a normal winter day

  • Visting Austria was the first time I ever saw snow, and it was only March so nothing like this. This is stunning! 😍

  • From Canada. Done with the snow. Couldn’t care less to see another snowflake for the rest of my days. I should mention that as I type this message out, it is -22C with a windshield factor of -31C. Having said that, it was nice to see it through your eyes.

  • -18°C and that amount of snow is nothing for those of us in the middle of the Canadian prairies. 🤣

It's dipped down to -35°C a few times so far this year.

  • I love Emma's before coffee face 🤣

  • Hey Beans, great video!! Be safe 🙂

  • How do you keep carbon monoxide from the diesel heater from backing up into the van if you get a really deep snow around the base of the van?

  • OMG totally giggling over here (from New England and currently living in Montreal) at how little snow that is!!! Was expecting it to be up to your knees when you stepped out of the van, but the best was when you panned out to show how much snow there was and it barley came up the tires! 🤣🤣🤣 We got 12” of snow this weekend while we were in CT and that is not that bad. 24” isn’t unusual but the time it snowed 48” in one night (on my birthday) was awful and literally trapped us in our home for four days (other people for longer)!!!! Watching this makes me happy to know we could venture to Austria midwinter and have no problem with the snow because holy moly those views are incredible! Would love to see what it looks like in summer too!!! Can’t wait to see where you’re off to next. 🥶💙

  • I almost peed myself laughing at awe and shock of Emma immense intelligence on that question about locks tied on bridge. How in the world you get those ideas when there is so much to enjoy around?
